The iFelt project has developed and evaluated a new method for conducting cohabitant, randomized large-scale field trials in commercial salmon farming. The method is based on advanced camera technology and standardized, continuous data collection, aiming to improve documentation of biological interventions under field conditions.
A key component of the project was establishing a robust method for individual-based group allocation, both at sea and at slaughter. This enables precise evaluation of biological measures in operational farming environments.
The project design and methodology show strong potential for improved field documentation in future studies.
The project was a collaboration between:
OptoScale
Previwo
Emilsen Fisk AS
Sinkaberg AS
Salmalytics
The project was funded by The Norwegian Seafood Research Fund (FHF).
